The process we used to build momentum to pay off our mortgage was simple. We started with our budget form. Then we took a white board and wrote how much we owed on our mortgage each month. As we paid the mortgage down we updated the board every month. The tally marks represented the amount of payments we needed to make to complete our goal while the number next to the tallies showed our planned extra payment amount. As you can see we started off slow and our initial plan was about 33 payments but as we gained momentum, 19 months later we were done! Hallelujah!!
